Our Development & Educational Delivery Techniques

We prioritise enriching educational experiences for children aged 6 months to 5 years. We adapt our approach to ensure that each age group receives age-appropriate experiences and tailored support. We understand the importance of addressing all areas of development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. To ensure a well-rounded approach, our rooms have different areas that promote each of the EYFS areas, supporting children’s development. We heavily promote school readiness in our Polar Bear Pre-School to enable them the best chance when starting school.

  • Room setups encourage positive relationships and interactions among children and with our caring staff.
  • Areas for imaginative play, role-playing, and group activities promote social skills, empathy, and emotional understanding.
  • Language-rich corners feature books, storytelling props, and interactive displays to stimulate language acquisition and communication skills.
  • Opportunities for conversations, discussions, and storytime / singing sessions enhance children’s listening, speaking, and vocabulary development.
  • Well-equipped gross motor areas provide space for active play, balancing, climbing, and outdoor exploration.
  •  Fine motor skill stations offer activities like puzzles, threading, and manipulative play to refine coordination.
  • Book corners with a variety of age-appropriate books encourage a love for reading, literacy engagement, and storytelling.
  • Writing tables with materials for mark-making and early writing activities support the development of pre-writing skills.
  • Numeracy corners offer hands-on materials like counting objects, shapes, and puzzles to foster early numeracy skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Opportunities for sorting, matching, and counting are integrated into daily routines and play-based experiences.
  • Role-play areas reflect real-life scenarios, promoting understanding of the world around us and encouraging exploration.
  • Nature tables, science experiments, and cultural displays facilitate curiosity and appreciation for different cultures and the natural environment.
  • Art corners equipped with various materials encourage creativity, self-expression, and exploration of different art forms.
  • Music and movement areas provide opportunities for dancing, singing, and musical instrument exploration to stimulate creativity and self-confidence.

In each room, our dedicated staff members incorporate these EYFS areas into daily activities, providing a well-rounded educational experience tailored to each child’s developmental needs. By creating engaging environments that promote all EYFS areas, we strive to ensure that children are well-prepared for school, equipped with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive academically and socially.

At City Road Community Childcare, we are committed to supporting each child’s holistic development and fostering a love for learning in every EYFS area. By adapting our approach and tailoring experiences, we aim to optimise each child’s growth and readiness for future milestones.
